PREFACE:
‘PALLAS ATHENE’ is one of the inaugural fragrances in the Argos Artist Series I. In 1898, Gustav Klimt immortalized the Greek goddess of wisdom and art, Pallas Athena, in a mesmerizing oil painting. This scent captures the essence of Klimt's masterpiece, inviting you on a sensory journey that intertwines history, mythology, and the artistry of fragrance.
Gustav Klimt was a founding member and president of the rebellious Wiener Secession. The group’s symbol was Pallas Athene (Minerva to the Romans) the powerful Greek virgin goddess of just causes, strength, courage, wisdom, war, and the arts. Legend has it Athena sprang to life, with a tremendous battle cry, fully armed from the brain of Zeus. On her aegis the golden head of Medusa. She holds the figure of Nuda Veritas, or ‘naked truth’ in her right hand, while in the background, Hercules battles with Triton.
This captivating scent is both romantic and commanding. Opening with Bright Bergamot, Delicious Red Berry, Grapefruit, and Spicy Pink Peppercorn, Argos PALLAS ATHENE transitions perfectly into a floral heart of Peony, Violet, and Rose Petals. Bold base notes of Powdery Iris, Mysore Sandalwood, Amber, Earthy Vetiver, Patchouli, and Creamy Vanilla produce a powerfully seductive and feminine fragrance.
